About

Hey, I'm Joon, an Information Systems graduate from Singapore Management University.

My strongest edge sits at the intersection of technical depth and clear communication. I've found that great solutions often fail not because they're wrong, but because they're poorly explained. Whether working alongside engineers, pitching to investors, or building relationships with partners, I focus on translating complex ideas into narratives that are compelling, trustworthy, and easy to act on.

My background spans AI development, founding teams, GTM execution, and product work. Across these, the consistent thread has been bridging the gap between what's technically possible and what actually resonates with people, approaching challenges with first principles thinking, and seeing technical skills as tools to create impact rather than ends in themselves.

I'm fortunate to have built versatile perspectives through experiences spanning work, competitions, entrepreneurship, sports, and living overseas. I'm drawn to building things that matter and have long-term ambitions to grow, contribute, and eventually support others on their journeys.

Always building and tinkering, and open to opportunities where I can make an impact. Outside of work, I love a good run, swim, and conversation. Feel free to reach out.

Hackathons + Projects

  • Movie / video auto-descriptor for blind audiences

@ Project for Shenzhen Qiming Accessibility Technology

    2025

Shenzhen Qiming partners with major platforms like Tencent to make digital media more inclusive for the blind and visually impaired. Their core service involves producing audio descriptions - spoken narrations that describe on-screen visuals where subtitles or dialogue are insufficient. Because this process is largely manual, described movies remain scarce and costly to produce.

With advances in multimodal and video models, automation in this space is becoming increasingly viable. I designed and prototyped a system that:

鈻?Automatically segments videos into shorter, scene-level units, enabling precise targeting of sections that require description.
鈻?Augments each scene with contextual data (previous scenes, setting memory, character tracking) to improve model grounding and coherence.
鈻?Implements a layered LLM pipeline (draft 鈫?verify 鈫?refine) that systematically enhances the quality and accuracy of generated descriptions.

    Takeaways

    • Extremely meaningful project. Optimistic that with continuous model improvements coupled with a smart pipeline, a fully automated solution will be achievable
